RVCA X CINELLI x PRESSURE SERIES AVAILABLE JULY 3RD

Undoubtedly two of the most discerning design houses of our time, RVCA and Cinelli have collaborated with an exceptional list of renowned artists (Ashley Macomber, Barry McGee, Clare E. Rojas, C.R. Stecyk III, Dan Murphy, Dmote, Jesse Geller, Josh Lazcano, KAWS, Madsaki, Phil Frost, PM Tenore and Stephen Powers), all of whom have in some way redefined the world of art through their own artistic sensibility, in producing Pressure.

Providing a new statement on a traditional sport and furthermore imparting a fresh insight into a subculture very much responsible for a new movement in popular culture, Pressure matches RVCA’s deep roots within the arts and Cinelli’s apparent appreciation for world class design.

Debuting this unique collaboration to the worldwide arts community, Pressure was launched at VASF on Thursday 19th June. Touring to LA and Texas later this Summer, RVCA has produced a limited edition series of T-Shirts to commemorate this project.

A little bit about the artist…..

Kelsey Brookes was born in 1978. A formally trained scientist who spent years tracking viruses for the U.S. government, he now lives and works in San Diego as a painter. His art can be found broadly throughout the US and Europe and is represented internationally by the Lazarides gallery (London).

Kelsey’s figurative paintings draw influence from Hindu and Buddhist deities, exotic animals and sex, as well as rustic American quilts. Each figure is adorned with ghostly representations of the natural world…animals and plants that unfold from the body into the surrounding canvas. His chimeras are frozen with animalistic intensity in explosive and sometimes tortured positions. Kelsey blames this raw, anxious form of art on the U.S. University system which refuses to teach its scientists how to draw

A little more about the artist….

It’s all the same, only the names will change. Everyday it seems where wasting away. Another place where the faces are so cold I’d drive all night just to get back home. I’m a cowboy; on a steel horse I ride I’m wanted dead or alive, wanted dead or alive. Sometimes I sleep, sometimes its not for days and the people I meet always go their separate ways. Sometimes you tell the day by the bottle that you drink and times when you’re all alone all you do is think. I walk these streets, a loaded six string on my back I play for keeps, cause I might not make it back I been everywhere, still I’m standing tall I’ve seen a million faces an I’ve ROCKED them all!
