The 2nd peanut bowl contest

The 2nd peanut bowl contest was the best one yet. I don’t know how we will ever be able to put on a contest as good as this one again. The reason why is because a handful of the best skateboarders in the world came down to SMP to support this core event. It was created by skateboarders for skateboarders. Sandro Dias, Ronaldo Gomes and Otavio Neto from Brazil. Brandon and Alex Perelson from the USA. Jocke Olson and Pontus Bjorn from Sweden and Sam Beckett from the UK all participated in this contest and put on a spectacular show for the local skaters. Overall 38 people entered the contest but a few got stage fright and decided to just watch the show.

But it wasn’t just the professionals doing skating well. The progression of skateboarding in Shanghai can be seen each contest because the kids are doing way harder tricks than before. The notable standouts were Parker from the USA. Tony Gao, and Simon Sun from China, and of course the two skate princesses Amber and Allison Meyer from Taiwan. Alan Rong age 8 showed up wearing his school uniform and six year old warren impressed us all with his newest trick backside 5.0 grinds. Over all it was a great event with a fun and friendly atmosphere.
Converse shoes, www.hipnuz.com , Vagabond skateboards and Pizza Boy restaurant donated prizes.
And also Xgames gold medallist Andy Macdonald signed and donated the skateboard he used to win this year’s Asian X-games. Two other signed skateboards were donated by Pro skaters Renton Millar and Juergen Horrwarth.
Local skater and skateboard coach Alex Kandaurov judged the contest. And as usual I commentated and gave people headaches.
With out the help of the above people this event wouldn’t have been as awesome as it was.
So I’d like to thank all the brands for donating prizes and all the skaters for showing up.

1st Parker Baldwin age 11 USA
2nd Simon Sun age 14 China
3rd Tony Gao age 8 China
4th Amber Meyer age 12 Taiwan
5th Deron Jiang age 23 China

The day I held this contest the guys from whats up magazine were at SMP they didnt shoot one picture of the contest they were too busy taking pictures of themselves. that mag is just one big advert I couldn't believe they didnt want pics of real pros or local shredders.
They just wanted to promote themselves not skateboarding.
