Park Studio:Skaters and Makers
Park Studio, SMMoA’s annual spring break education program for high school
students, offers teenagers direct engagement with contemporary artists.
Skaters and Makers—an exhibition of modular sculptures inspired by skate
ramp architecture—is a product of the dynamic collaboration between architect
François Perrin, designer Gil Le Bon Delapointe, and craftsman Dante Cacace.
The skate cube in this exhibition is made of twenty-two hand built skate ramps
that can be separated, arranged, and rearranged into a variety of functional
and surprising configurations—from pop-up skate parks to modular lounges. In
its unfolded state it refers to the history of skateboarding and to aerodynamic
architectural forms.
