Vans Syndicate is proud to announce the release of a first collaboration with Shanghai’s original skate and Streetwear brand Fly, the Vans Syndicate x Fly Streetwear Pack. The collaboration is inspired by the history around cricket fighting culture in China, which dates back to the Song Dynasty era, and represents original street culture from a modern day perspective. The Cricket shoe marks the first collaboration between Vans Syndicate and Fly Streetwear, who are the original purveyors of skate and street culture in Shanghai, circa 1999. The shoe collection launches on November 15th exclusively at the Vans store on Changle Lu (706), and Fly Streetwear shops in Beijing, Zhengzhou.
Vans Syndicate和Fly Streetwear合作以中国传统的斗蟋蟀为灵感进行设计，颂扬了中国历史悠久的传统街头文化。
斗蟋蟀的文化传统扎根于中国历史长河中，最早可以追溯到12世纪早期。最初养殖蟋蟀和斗蟋蟀都是皇帝及文人墨客的消遣活动，但很快这种活动就被大众广而接受。斗蟋蟀逐渐形成一种街头文化，并从早期的中国延传至今。本次由Vans Syndicate和Fly Streetwear合作推出的Street Fighters蟋蟀系列就是受了这种中国传统文化的灵感启发。
Vans Authentic的款式设计利用了牛筋草的图案，这种草通常生长于蟋蟀的自然栖息地， 也在斗蟋蟀的时候被用于逗弄蟋蟀的背部。 而这款鞋的鞋垫上印有两段从中国古代《促织经》上摘取的两句话。
Slip-On的款式设计灵感源自于斗蟋蟀时用于容纳蟋蟀的灰色器皿。古时候这种器皿通常由灰色粘土制成，并在底部用简单的图章来进行装饰。

Vans Syndicate Launches Collaboration with Fly Streetwear in Shanghai
Celebrating original street culture in China, Vans Syndicate and Fly Streetwear team up on a collaboration rooted in the history and style of cricket fighting culture.
Cricket fighting has deep roots in Chinese history dating back to the early 12th century.
Raising and fighting crickets started as an elite pastime of emperors and the literati, but soon filtered down to the masses. Cricket fighting happened outside on the streets and is one of the earliest forms of urban “street culture” in Chinese history that lasts down to this day. The Vans Syndicate X Fly Streetwear Street Fighters series is inspired by this history and culture.
The Vans Authentic model utilizes a camouflage grass pattern inspired by the specific type
of grass native to the cricket’s natural habitat (牛筋草). This is the same grass that is used to tickle the backs of the crickets to make them fight. The insole reproduces two portions of text from the first manual devoted to cricket fighting in Chinese history (促织经 12th century). The Slip-On model is inspired by the grey basins (斗蟋蟀港) used to fight crickets in. These basins were historically made of grey clay and were simply adorned with a single chop-seal
