We started the weekend recovering a work called Skater, Scottish photographer Nikki Toole (1965) who currently resides in Melbourne, traveled the world (from July 2009 to about 2012) to photograph skaters from different places. The portraits evoke the solitary mental space they experience while skating. Nineteen portraits were captured in frontal pose and as a backdrop the urban environment and landscapes of the outskirts of cities. Photographer acknowledges that the project was driven by the desire to understand and communicate with their stakeholders, interested in strength and identity that define the lone skater.
