As you guys know, at the Paris Olympics Men's Street Skateboarding, Yuto pulled off a clutch move. After bailing three times, he nailed that nollie bs 270 tailblunt on his fourth try and scored a massive 97.08. That put him in the lead, and he ended up winning the whole thing again!
There's been a ton of buzz after the contest about Yuto's 97.08 score... I'm not gonna get into whether it was fair or not, because skateboarding is judged subjectively. There's no absolute standard. It's a competitive sport, not a skate video. If you choose to compete, you gotta roll with the punches and deal with the unexpected.
I've also heard a lot of people wishing Nyjah had won... Time flies, man. I remember watching SLS in LA back in 2018 and seeing a kid holding up a sign for Nyjah. Back then, people used to criticize him for being a contest machine with no style... But six years later, with all these “athlet style" national teams competing, Nyjah's not the most "contest machine" anymore. It's crazy how things change. I checked out Nyjah's Instagram, and he even posted a clip of him skating a street spot in Paris before the contest. Dude loves skateboarding.
Then I scrolled through Thrasher's Instagram, and there's not a single mention of the Olympics. It's like a whole other universe over there, where only street skating exists.
So, back to the point: if you choose to compete, there's no point complaining. You can't have it both ways. The pure street skating world is still out there. Respect!

赛后也听到了很多希望 Nyjah 夺冠的声音...... 时光荏苒，还记得 2018 年在洛杉矶看 SLS 现场的时候看到场边有孩子举着这个牌子，那个时候 Nyjah 还被人诟病为比赛机器，没有风格...... 而 6 年后的今天，面对各国体制队，Nyjah 已经不是那个最“比赛机器”的一个了，真是没有比较就没有伤害。翻看了一下 Nyjah 的 instagram，赛前他还发了一段在巴黎街头 spot 滑板的小视频，他是爱滑板的。
赛后又翻了翻 Thrasher 的 instagram，找不到任何奥运的身影，俨然一个平行宇宙，在那个世界里，只有街头滑板。
所以回到最开始，如果选择了竞技的舞台，就没有什么好抱怨的。不能既要又要，因为纯街头的那个世界一直都在那里。Respect！
